Latest IRS alert

Beware of promoters offering fake tax credits.

The IRS is warning taxpayers and businesses about promoters selling nonexistent “Tribal Tax Credits” and other questionable tax schemes. Be cautious of unusually large refund promises, pressure to act quickly, unverifiable legal opinions, or claims based on secret government agreements.

Claiming a nonexistent credit may result in additional tax, penalties, interest, an audit, or other serious consequences. Verify unfamiliar credits using official IRS guidance and consult a qualified tax professional before filing.

Payroll, Texas franchise tax, and federal business changes

Payroll deposit schedules vary between monthly and semiweekly depositors. Certain extended Texas franchise-tax reports are due November 16, 2026; entities below the no-tax-due threshold may still need to file a Public Information Report or Ownership Information Report.

The IRS is also highlighting expanded business provisions, including permanent changes to the employer credit for paid family and medical leave.
